October 2001 Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to Publish CBP® Efficacy Study By Deed E. Recently, we
received notice from the Editor of the Archives of Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation (APM&R) that our clinical control trial on Pope’s cervical
2-way traction had been accepted for publication. Our paper is entitled “New
3-Point Bending Traction Method of Restoring Cervical Lordosis Combined with
Cervical Manipulation: Non-randomized Clinical Control Trial” by DE Harrison, R
Cailliet, DD Harrison, TJ Janik, and B Holland. This study
was conducted at my office in Since
APM&R is the world’s most prestigious rehabilitation journal, we are very
excited to have a CBP® efficacy study on restoring cervical lordosis in this
very fine Index Medicus journal. We are probably the first DCs to be published
in this journal. Judging by
our published cervical normal values in SPINE in 1996, our average improvements
in cervical lordosis in this present study will support 72-108 visits (i.e., 2
or 3 programs of 36 visits) to restore/rehabilitate a typical patient’s
cervical curve. Our CBP® studies are beginning to offset the damage done by IMEs using the Mercy Center Guidelines for acute,
uncomplicated, mechanical low back pain (i.e., 12 visits). Since we
had a cervical curve efficacy study (on compression/extension traction)
published in JMPT in 1994, this is our 2nd clinical control trial. We have a
3rd clinical study in review at present and 4 more being written (since data
has already been collected and statistical evaluations are being performed).
Soon, we at CBP® will have six clinical control trials and one Cohort study
published. Back to CBP® OnLineNew CBP® Poster Series
